Nitrox 32%: safety first
At Rangiroa Diving Center, safety has always been at the heart of the way we dive. Rangiroa is an exceptional destination, but also an isolated one in the middle of the Pacific: the nearest recompression chamber is in Tahiti, several hundred kilometres away, and an accident requiring hyperbaric treatment may involve an air evacuation.
Your Nitrox certification
I am already Nitrox certified▾
Simply let us know when you fill in your request on Let us build your trip. You must be able to present your certification at the centre. Before your first Nitrox dive, we will go through the elements required for its use and the mixture analysis procedures with you. Only divers holding the required qualification may use Nitrox on our dives.
I am not Nitrox certified yet▾
That is not a problem. We offer Nitrox training with a theory part that can be completed online before you arrive in Rangiroa. Nitrox certification does not require a specific training dive; the necessary practical elements are finalised with our team at the centre. You can therefore arrive in Rangiroa with the theory already completed, and then enjoy your trip using NX32 within the scope of your certification. On arrival at the centre, our team will carry out a qualitative check of the knowledge acquired during the online theory, to make sure it has been properly understood and assimilated before your Nitrox certification is finally validated.

Why we chose Nitrox 32%
In this particular context, we believe prevention must hold an essential place in the way we organise our dives. It is with this in mind that Rangiroa Diving Center invested in its own membrane system for producing Nitrox 32% (NX32 / EAN32).
Nitrox 32%, also known as EAN32, is a breathing mixture made of roughly 32% oxygen and 68% nitrogen, compared with roughly 21% oxygen and 79% nitrogen for air. Its lower nitrogen content reduces nitrogen exposure for a given dive profile compared with air.
For us, Nitrox obviously replaces neither sound planning, nor respect for procedures, nor a controlled ascent, nor the basic rules of safety. It is simply one more tool in our preventive approach, particularly relevant in the isolated context of Rangiroa.
Our choice is therefore a simple one: whenever it suits the dive profile and the diver, we would rather make Nitrox available to our clients than turn it into a premium option. Safety is for you, for us, for everyone.
Nitrox is included in our dives
At Rangiroa Diving Center, Nitrox 32% is included in the price of our dives, at no extra cost, for divers holding the necessary certification.
Our membrane installation allows us to produce our NX32 directly at the centre. This investment was made to embed Nitrox durably into the way we operate and into our safety policy.
Every diver using Nitrox takes part in analysing their own mixture before the dive, in accordance with the applicable Nitrox procedures.
Our parameters for NX32
Rangiroa Diving Center mainly uses NX32. For our recreational dives on Nitrox 32%, we apply an oxygen content of 32%, a maximum PPO2 of 1.4 bar and a maximum operating depth (MOD) of 33 metres.
These parameters set the framework of our NX32 dives. Some dives or profiles may require the use of air, in particular for divers qualified to go beyond that depth. The choice of gas then remains suited to the planned profile and to the diver's qualifications.
Do I have to dive on Nitrox with RDC?
No. We respect every diver's choice to dive on air or on Nitrox.
However, organising dive groups using different gases can become complex, particularly in high season when we already have to take into account everyone's level, experience, objectives and profile.
We therefore ask you to tell us, right from your trip request, whether you are Nitrox certified and whether you wish to dive on Nitrox or on air. This allows us to build consistent groups and to organise your dives in the best possible conditions.
Diving on air only remains possible depending on how the dive groups are organised, and will be confirmed by Rangiroa Diving Center according to the groups and the dives planned.
A global approach to safety
Our investment in Nitrox is not an isolated step. It is part of a broader philosophy: preventing rather than enduring, adapting dives to the conditions of Rangiroa, building consistent groups, maintaining our equipment, analysing the gases used and placing safety before the pursuit of performance or depth.
Nitrox is therefore a means for us, not an end. Our objective remains the same: to let you discover the exceptional environment of Rangiroa in the best possible conditions.
Start with Let us build your trip and tell us your level, your experience, your last dive and whether you already hold a Nitrox certification. We will then build your programme around your profile, your objectives and the natural conditions of Rangiroa.
